We Couldn't Miss It

Yesterday we realized that we were so busy this summer that we never made it to our favorite place, Acadia National Park. And that just wasn't acceptable to us. I wasn't going to let a whole year go by without seeing the beautiful mountains and shorelines of Acadia, without tasting the most delicious lobster stew, or without introducing our newest little family member to popovers. So, when we woke up this morning and the sun was shining, we knew it would be a great day for a drive. We made it to the early Mass - a feat in itself - and then packed up our things and took a day trip Downeast. The leaves were just about at peak, so the drive was beautiful. We stopped at the Jordan Pond House for stew and popovers. It was very windy, but still warm enough to be outside, so we decided to take a little hike in the woods on the carriage trails to work off our lunch. The air was so crisp and really smelled like Autumn. And it was so peaceful just walking with our family except when we encountered a "T-Rex" walking through the woods. After our walk, we took a drive up Cadillac Mountain so we could see the majestic coastline and view the foliage from the highest point on the eastern seaboard. It was incredible but very very chilly, so we only stayed out for a few minutes. Our last stop was in Bar Harbor where Wesley we suggested we get ice cream at the Jordan Pond Ice Cream shop. It was too chilly to eat it outside, so we sat in the adjoining Acadia Outdoors shoe section to finish it up. The videos below are from our stop there. We headed home after that so we could get the boys to bed at a decent time, but it was well worth the drive. Little Preston has now officially been introduced to that special place where his Mommy and Daddy met. Preston in "I scream for Ice Cream"
