Light 'Em Up

Tonight was the Camden Public Library's Halloween party and pumpkin light-up. We've only been one previous year, the year Wesley was one, but we knew that we wanted to make it to this one. We have a new children's librarian and so I knew there would be a few changes to the event, some good and some not so good. The first part of the evening was moved indoors to the reading room and there was a lot for the kids to do, crafts, games, treats, and Miss Amy read a couple stories for all the costumed little critters. The last time we went, the entire event was held outside, there were no activities other than the pumpkin light-up and the only refreshments were hot cider and cookies. So this was definitely a nice bonus and the kids really loved it. Unfortunately, when we went outside to light up our pumpkins, instead of going to the amphitheater where there is a lot of space and terraced steps perfect for setting out pumpkins, we went to the children's garden which was much smaller and far too crowded with all the parents and children. I didn't even get to take a picture of all the pumpkins lit up because by the time it cleared out enough to get a good shot, half of the people had already left, taking their pumpkins with them. Our first pumpkin light-up was held in the amphitheater and when all the pumpkins were lit together, the effect was wonderful and made for great pictures. So, I was somewhat disappointed that we didn't have the same result this time. But other than that, the night was lots of fun and a great way to spend time in our community.
