Aah, Chute

Well even the best laid plans are sometimes thwarted. It's toboggan Nationals weekend and for the 4th year in a row, Steve has been on a 4-person team vying for the championship title. It's usually a two day event, however, we didn't make it to Hosmer Pond on day one. We had every intention of being there, but Friday was a late night (pre-toboggan party at the Heaths)and some family members just weren't feeling up to snuff yesterday. Luckily, there was an alternate there to take Steve's place for the first qualifying run . . . and it was a good enough time that they were guaranteed a spot in the finals today. We did make it out to Ragged Mountain this morning to gear up for the finals. It was a beautiful winter day in February, warmer temps and sunny skies (the kind of day I used to love for skiing.) The only bad thing were the occasional gusts of 40 mile an hour wind that whipped across the ice at just the worst moments. Unfortunately, with so many teams competing we actually only got to see Steve/Daddy go down the track one time (and actually Preston slept through that) before the boys got too cold and wanted me to take them home. It was only when we got home that I discovered that both of their feet were wet from playing in the slushy snow. No wonder they were cold. Anyway, it was a fun few hours while we were there and it's a great tradition. Hope you can come join us some year.
