We're Getting the Blues

I thought about doing another slideshow of pictures from this year's North Atlantic Blues Fest, but with my pathetically overdue blog entries, I figured that would take too long. So instead, here are a few pics and videos of this years

festival.

Out of the Mouths of Babes

On a recent trip away, Wesley and Preston were both sleeping on the floor of our guest bedroom. Early one morning I awoke groggy from a restless slumber to hear two sounds. The first was my husband's loud breathing. The second was the soft whisper of Wesley on the other side of the bed poking my husband and saying, "Dad, Dad, what is that noise you are making? You are freaking me out!"

Five year olds can be ornery, especially my five year old. It's often the result of too little sleep, too little food, or too much sugar. On a recent day visiting Yaya and Papa, Wesley was in one of his moods. He was giving me a very hard time, not cooperating, and my frustration level was quickly increasing. Exasperated I finally looked at him and said, "Wesley, why are you being so irritating today?" to which he responded, "I DON'T KNOW, Mom, that is just how God made me." And that was the end of that. I couldn't help but smile and in an instant my frustration was gone.

A few days ago we were driving home from a friends house. From the backseat, Wesley says to me, "Mom, I don't think I like my name anymore." I responded, "Why, what's wrong with your name?" "I just don't want to be called Wesley anymore." Taking the bait, I said, "well, what do you want to be called?" Without a pause he stated, "I want to change my name to Spiderman." Of course!
